How Has Our Food Changed In The Last Century?

Supermarket_blog

It's hard to believe that most of the foods we eat today didn't even exist 100 years ago. With all of the new technology and advancements in agriculture, it's no wonder that our diets have changed so much in such a short period. In fact, some of the food items that are common staples in our diets today could be considered fairly new compared to other foods that have been around for centuries or even millennia. Here are some examples of foods that were introduced into the human diet within the last 100 years.

Wireless radiation is electromagnetic radiation from devices like cell phones, laptops, and tablets. It has only been around for about 20 years, and its long-term effects are still unknown. However, there is some evidence to suggest that exposure to wireless radiation can increase one's risk of certain types of cancer.

Genetically modified foods (GMOs) are foods that have been altered at the genetic level to make them resistant to pests or herbicides. GMOs have only been around since the 1990s and their safety is still hotly debated. Some people believe that GMOs are safe to eat while others believe that they may cause health problems in the long run.

BPA is a synthetic compound that is used in many plastic products such as water bottles and food containers. BPA has been linked to several health problems, such as infertility, obesity, and cancer. Due to the potential health risks associated with BPA, many companies have started offering BPA-free products in recent years.

Toxic drinking water is a major problem in many parts of the world today. Due to industrialization and pollution, many waterways are contaminated with harmful chemicals and pollutants. This can lead to serious health problems if people drink this water without taking proper precautions. In developed countries, tap water is typically safe to drink but it is always important to check your local water quality report before consuming any water from a new source.

Birth control is a relatively new concept in human history. While there have been many different methods of birth control throughout history, it wasn't until the early 1900s that birth control became widely available and acceptable in most Western societies. Today, there are many different types of birth control available such as pills, patches, shots, and more.

Electronics such as cell phones, computers, and TVs have only become commonplace in recent decades. While these devices have brought many benefits, they also have risks. For example, prolonged exposure to blue light from electronic screens can contribute to eye strain and fatigue. Additionally, spending too much time on electronic devices can lead to social isolation and anxiety.

Synthetic pesticides and herbicides are chemicals used in agriculture to kill pests and weeds. These chemicals can harm human health if not used properly or ingested in large quantities. Some studies have linked exposure to these chemicals with health problems such as cancer and infertility. As a result, many people try to avoid eating fruits and vegetables treated with these chemicals whenever possible.

As you can see, many of the foods we take for granted today didn't even exist 100 years ago! With all of the new technology and advances in agriculture, it's no wonder our diets have changed so much in such a short period. Thanks for reading! :)
